                            Harvest

A very easy salad leaf which will grow in the smallest of spaces. Making it perfect for pots and containers placed where they are most convenient. An essentail ingredient to pep up all types of salad. Best used as ‘cut and come again’ baby leaves for fresh leaves over a long harvest period if sown regularly.

Outdoor Sowing

Sow thinly, direct into 25cm (10in) pots for baby leaves or in a prepared seed bed in rows 25cm (10in) apart. Cover with 0.5cm (quarter inch) of fine soil. Firm gently and keep moist. Seedlings appear in 7 - 14 days. For continuous crops sow every 2 - 3 weeks.
Sow: April to August in Partial Shade, Harvest September and October and May to October the following year.

Growing on

For baby leaf no thinning is required. For mature plants, when large enough thin to 10cm (4in) apart. Keep moist and do not allow plants to dry out, this prevents them running to seed. Pick individual leaves as required, taking a few leaves from each plant, they will regrow for up to 3 or 4 cuts.

Tip: Add to other salad leaves for a stronger flavour salad.
