A versatile perennial herb that can be harvested all yaer round and will last several years. Its strong, fragrant flavour is delicious when combined with all types of robust meat and vegetable dishes. It also looks attractive grown in a garden in a gravel garden as the flowers are very pretty!

Indoor Sowing

Sow thinly in trays of seed compost, cover lightly with fine compost. Firm gently and keep moist.
Tip: Grow in pots on the patio, Transfer a plant to a pot on the windowsill in the winter for easier picking.

Growing on

When large enough transplant 5cm (2in) apart in further trays. Acclimatise to outside conditions. Stand outside for a few days (avoid frosts), then transplant to the final position spacing 15cm (6in) apart, in a warm sunny position in well drained soil. Pick the leaves as required throughout the year. If they are to be dried, gather them just before the flowers begin to open.
Thyme likes Full Sun and can grow up to 25cm,
Plan: Sow in February to May, Plant in June Harvest from then on.
